A day in the Neouvielle nature reserve Discoverer level pyrenees guided walking
A last outing for the snow shoes yesterday (23rd of June!), in the fast melting snows of the Neouvielle nature reserve, A spectacular lake land found just to the South of Bareges village. Neouvielle means old snow in the local Occitan (Neou – or Nebe/Nevee being snow and Vielle meaning old), and at 2500m it is still showing why. We took in a tour through the high lakes which are now mostly defrosted except the odd bright blue berg and admired the view down over the sea off clouds into Bareges valley on the second day of this weeks Discoverer level English language (with a bit of Oc!), guided walking holiday:
