Pyrenees adventurer walking with a guide in the National park - 3000m peak ascents

Who is this for?

Our Adventurer mountain walks can be up to 10 hours a day and quite challenging. However, if you have a reasonable level of fitness and stamina, a good head for heights and a desire to get off the beaten track, you’will be amazed by this week which takes you to the highest, most remote and spectacular sites of the Pyrenees.  We use catered huts (mountain refuge), so you only need to carry sleeping gear and a spare change of clothes. Please see our Kit List for more details.

What do we do and see?

On an Adventurer week, we tackle the big 3000m peaks of the Pyrenees. The days are longer than other walking holiday weeks, allowing you to really see some of the untouched areas of the Pyrenees, while enjoying the comforts of catered for accommodation and a hot shower each evening.

What fitness level do I need?

We recommend some physical preparation before your trip so that you can get the most out of your walking holiday – regular swimming, jogging or walking (aerobic exercise) would be ideal. A typical day might be 8-10 hours in length, with an ascent of 800-1500m. Stamina is also important as it’s not just one day with a long walk but 5 days so you need to be able to keep going each day – you do get a rest day on the Wednesday though.

Who leads these walks?

You’ll always be with a qualified International Mountain Leader, and the emphasis is on walking. We do not use the techniques of Alpinism (with climbing equipment or crampons/ice axes) but there may be some short sections of route protected by a rope. If you’d like to try some technical climbing or glacier routes, we can arrange a local high mountain guide for you.

We currently offer the following Adventurer weeks:
