We are based from our beautiful chalet in the traditional mountain village of Bareges, part of the Tourmalet ski resort (Bareges-La Mongie) - the largest ski domain in the French Pyrenees, and a perfect location for Summer walking and activity holidays.

All Mountainbug Pyrenees holidays are run from our beautifully renovated 18th century village house, which offers the highest quality accommodation available in Bareges (3* en-suite rooms as standard). From here you can escape to the mountains and bask in unspoiled wilderness on gentle day walks, or if you prefer, dive head long down the canyons, pistes and the more inaccessible high mountain trails of the Pyrenees! Mountainbug gives you the best the High Pyrenees has to offer in both Winter and Summer. Our new Italian Dolomites walking holidays are based in the village of Dobbiaco, situated at 1256m amongst the green meadows of Alta Pusteria valley. Dobbiaco is the gateway to two National Parks, with countless footpaths leading into what is perhaps the most beautiful hiking area of the Dolomites.

We are a small company run by Robert Mason and Emma Todd, who live permanently in Bareges and are dedicated to supporting the local economy and the environment. See our new responsible travel page for our environment policy.

We are both qualified International Mountain Leaders, and aim to give you the personal attention you'll miss on a holiday with large tour operators. We offer customised holidays with the best trekking routes and mountain sports using only highly qualified local guides and instructors, combined with our own extensive local knowledge of the history, gastronomy, wildlife and love of the Pyrenees. If you are shopping elsewhere for a holiday in the mountains, PLEASE check the qualifications of the leaders - for your own safety!

UIMLA (Union of International Mountain Leaders) and UIAGM (Federation of Mountain Guides Associations) leaders are the only people who are insured and qualified to take you out walking in the mountains, be wary of companies (even major operators) claiming "qualified guides" - they may only have a UK summer qualification, or none at all...
