Day 1-8 Day 9-17 Day 18-26 Day 27-35 Day 36-41

Our kit list and gear recommendations

Weather considerations

In Summer, the weather here is generally warm, but the mountain climate is often unpredictable and can change quickly. You may also find that while it is warm in the valley, on the high peaks it can be chilly and windy. In the late afternoons, it is not uncommon to see a dramatic thunderstorm. We prefer to start our walking early, and be well on the way down before the weather breaks!

Typical temperatures in the Haute-Pyrenees: May 19.1oC, June 26.4 oC, July 27.6 oC, August 27.2 oC, September 25 oC, October 19.3 oC

Basic advice You will normally be comfortable in shorts and a T-shirt, or a thin top. We suggest that you always carry a warm fleece and a woolly hat, just in case. You should also have sturdy boots and good, lightweight waterproofs. Think about the sun when you’re packing – a sun hat, sunglasses and sun cream are essential. You might also like to bring a long-sleeved shirt to cover up. Water is also very important – on a hot day you should carry at least 2 litres with you - We had two between us then carried a ceramic filter pump and purification tablets.
