NEW for Summer 2008: Guided walking in the Italian Dolomites

Our Pyrenees walking holidays are based in the traditional village of Barèges, at 1250m, a perfect base to discover walking in the Pyrenees mountains. There are several lovely walking trails accessible directly from our house, including the famous GR10 "Grand Randonnee", which traverses the Pyrenees from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean. The Pyrenees National Park, and the Neouvielle nature reserve begin just above the village, and the famous "Cirque de Gavarnie" is nearby. The range of walking is so extensive here that there is literally something for everyone, from lazy wanders through the pretty mountain villages, to overnight refuge treks and serious scrambles to bag the wild 3000+ metre peaks.

Guided Walking Holidays in the Pyrenees

On a guided walking holiday you will see the most beautiful parts of the Pyrenees and have the chance to discover the real mountains, on a truly unforgettable holiday.

All our Pyrenees walking holidays are led by qualified International Mountain Leaders (Accompagnateurs en Montagne) and tailored specifically to your particular interests and abilities. We believe that the French have got it right when it comes to guided walking. There are over 3000 "accompagnateurs en montagne" in France, and we are proud to be two of the few English members living full time in France. If looking elsewhere for guided walking be sure your guide is an IML or Guide de Haute Montagne as these are the ONLY legal qualifications for leading in Europe. We are keen for you to get the best out of your walking holiday in the Pyrenees, and on a guided walk you will see so much that you risk missing on your own. You won't need to worry about straying across ugly ski lifts, or an uncrossable river, and we will always make sure that our routes are designed to suit you. As local residents here in the Pyrenees, and also as part of the knowledge required for our International Mountain Leader qualifications, we are full of interesting facts about the Pyrenees - flora and fauna, geology, history, local culture, language and the way of life of the mountain people of the Pyrenees - and while we're out and about you'll be discovering things first hand that no guide book could ever tell you.
